Where are my oxygen sensors located on my 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7L V8? This truck has four oxygen sensors. Two on the passenger side and two on the driver's side. In this video I show you where your passenger side oxygen sensors are located. These models have an upstream and downstream sensor in reference to the catalytic converter. Have fun changing these, the upstream sensor is BURIED. The only way to make this job easier is to rent/borrow/buy the O2 sensor socket kit. Then using your longest socket wrench and the kit, they come off, eventually. Bad passenger side sensors will cause these codes: p0151 p0152 p0153 p0155 p0156 p0157 p0158 p0159 p0161 These codes will tell you if the upstream, downstream or both sensors are bad.

o2 socket, pb blaster, and torch were working out very well due to the awful placement of the o2 sensor. it's located on top of the exhaust, not very easy to reach. i decided i needed more to torque to remove it.

Camshaft position sensor replacement. It controls the vanos solenoid. When this part fails you will feel jumping in your pickup. This part is fairly simple to replace. You will need to remove the Vanos solenoid; A large wrench or channel locks should do the trick. Unplug it, remove it along with the pcv hose. Then remove the oil fiter cap and oil hose bolt. Be careful not to lose the washer. Then remove the screw holding in the camshaft position sensor. I used a t30 socket. But it was fastened with an Allen screw 5mm. The plug for the sensor is in the under the middle of the manifold hanging there loosely by where the pcv valve assembly is. To assemble reverse what you did. Should take about 20 minutes to an hour depending on your experience. If this part was faulty you will feel an immediate difference in pick up. Especially on the low end torque. I no longer need to dump my clutch to do massive burn outs. Thats it the difference i felt. All the work done on my car cost me very little. But the result is better than some who have spent thousands to get half what I have making my own parts. For instance the motor mounts are to soft to do anything crazy, so I used a deep well socket and some sway bar bushings and a long nut and bolt with washers to replace the soft mounts after I had broken some expensive mounts. I decide metal it the only thing that can handle the torque. Vibration and noise has increased as a side effect of this. I probably will never do a vid on this.

Duty cycle measurement on Mercedes W124 diagnostic socket (faulty control unit)

This video is about basic diagnosis of a KE jetronic with lambda control, precisely, faulty control unit recongizition. In this example we used W124 230 E KAT from 1988. There is a square wave signal on X11 diagnostic socket. It has 100Hz duty cycle signal between pin 2 (ground) and pin 3. The signal is alternating between battery voltage and zero voltage. The main point is to measure the duty cycle of this signal that is referred as a percentage of the entire pulse period during which the voltage is zero (not the time when it is near battery voltage) First measurement is done with ignition ON and engine OFF is an assurance of KE control unit, whether support fault recognition or not. If duty cycle equals to 70% it means that faulty recondition is supported. The multimetr shows 50% during first minute. It shows that the engine works in open loop mode. (without lambda control) When lamba signal is obtained, engine is controlled in closed loop mode (with lambda control) and duty cycle should then fluctuate around 50%. In this partucular example the duty cycle periodically goes down (together with RPM), returns back on 50 % and goes down again.. The problem is caused by faulty KE jetronic control unit. Control unit does not control an idle valve switch (there is no signal to the idle valve switch at all). A video with properly working control unit can be found here : www.youtube.com
